The Wildroot Bookstore name was inspired by Shay’s great-great grandfather Robert J. Kideney’s invention of Wildroot hair tonic.  Having a love for books and being an entrepreneur herself, the Wildroot Bookstore was created.  Purchased during the summer of 2007, Shay has transformed an old building in downtown Lowville into a wonderful little escape for any book lover. 

Being an independent bookstore, we don’t try  to compete with the big box bookstores.  Instead, we try to offer personal service and items that are difficult to find any place else.  We carry a full line of local interest books, classic books & toys for children, and as well as local interest and hand-crafted gifts.  We are always listening to our customers’ suggested reading to have on our shelves, so please let us know what you would like us to carry.
